CCR1

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

What are the conventions of a typical tourism advert?

Beach, culture, traditional clothes, landscapes, architecture, local people tourists

What are the conventions of a typical Bali tourism advert?

Beach, culture, traditional clothes, ceremonies, landscapes, local people, tourists, food, temples

Which conventions do you follow? Why?

culture, local people, we want to expose the ghost tourist to the traditional mythical spirits of bali.

Which conventions do you subvert? Why?

Beach, as usually beaches are portrayed as fun and bright we will instead use the sunset from the beach to transition to a temple during the dead of night.

What groups/issues are shown in your ad?

Local people and traditions and culture

How are they shown?

We show them in their traditional clothing and traditional places such as temples and houses.

Why have they been shown this way?

to emphasise the cultural aspects in a good light.

CCR2

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Who is your target audience?

Ghost hunters horror/ thrill seekers

Demographic

Adults (18-30) of any gender and foreigner of bali

Psychographic

Thrill seekers/ horror enthusiasts, ghost hunters

What have you included in your advert that appeals to these people?

Scary images terrifying anecdotes and aerie music

Why would people consume your media? What is the purpose?

To learn more about balinese culture and Bali's supernatural side.

What media platforms would your ad be shown on?  (be specific)

Youtube as an ad that will appear when people search for horror movies/ documentaries.

Why have you chosen these? How do they relate to your audience?

We feel as if these aspects will be able to pander towards our target audience of ghost hunters as other media use similar methods when wanting to attract horror enthusiasts.

Editing and developement.

This is the development and the editing of the tourism add project.

My teammate Maha is doing the editing and wrote this blog and I did the font development

Font Development By Gusde

At first i researched horror movie fonts as they appealed to our target audience and are apart of the same genre.
What i took away front this is that a prominent feature is the red color which i figured is due to the relation to blood and gore as well as the red color invoke anger and strong volatile emotions closely linked with fear. Though I thought these fonts didn't fit our advertisement as we wanted more of a traditional and cultural text.
Digitalisasi Lontar Bali Sebagai Upaya Menjaga Warisan Leluhur
An the end for the font of the font we wanted to go with a font inspired by the traditional Balinese text/alphabet called Askara bali after searching around we discovered a font called balinese family font.

At the end we decided to go with a combination of a solid font and Balinese family font with the motto "Awaken Your Spirits In Bali"  that appears at the end of our video.

Video Editing process

so I use colour grading to change the colour of the sunset and the surrounding to make it more attractive and make the people want to watch the ad for a longer time.

so I add a glitch sound and a light switch off sound to make it more attractive also the glitch will suits it because there is an error in the video in the scene 2 where there is on and off light switch.

So I put an happy song in the first combine with the sunset, but then there is a black screen with a off switch sound and goes to the horror side of Bali at first we don't think about the black screen and light switch but then we put it in the video and made it more better and more pamper.

Reflection :
Though i wasn't majorly involved with the editing process, I was integral to the development of the slogan, type face and the design of the font. One problem that accoured was that i was unable to use downloaded fonts in Canva so what i had to do was screen shot the text in the desired font then remove the back ground in remove.bg. At the end i'm quite happy with the result although maybe if I had been able to make my own font it would've been better.

Behind the Scenes

These are the behind the scenes pictures and captions for the tourism ad project

The Interview Scene:

In this first take we wanted our friend (Sagara) to be the audio guy holding the mic for the interview but in later takes we decided that he would be better as the interviewer due to hid deep voice which sounded good for the interview rather then our voices

In this picture we can see everyone in their roles.

In these scenes I was in charge of being the director and directing and leading everyone to create the best shot. I was as well integral to providing food and drinks to keep everyone at their best.

The problem with this scene was the lack of good lighting this caused the image to be grainy and pixelated so to solve it we decided to reshoot on a later date with better lighting which consisted of a flashlight with a defuser similar to a light bar.

For audio, we attached a mic onto a pipe about 2 meters long; this was too solve the problem that the mic would be in frame. As well it provided good quality sound and acted as a prop in the second scene where everyone was fleeing the scene showing adding to the fear factor.

The Beach Scene:

This was a reshoot as the first time we shot the sky was cloudy and the sunset became obstructed. The sunset in Mertasari beach was as well subpar so we decided to reshoot in Legian beach which resulted in a better timelapse.

Here is the time where we shot our second scene. Our idea was to capture a timelapse of the sun setting so we did this by planting a phone firmly in the tripod then reinforcing the legs by partially burying it in sand. This created a stable shot for us.

At multiple times of the shoot we accidentally walked into frame though in the final video we were merely frames so the consequence is negligible.

The Temple B-Roll:

In this shot we wanted to make b roll of the temple by panning from one end to the other. As you can see from this first shot Panji used a phone which caused the glare or stretching of light which we decided was undesirable.

So the next time we reshot we decided to use a real camera which helped minimize the glare.

Reflection:

At the end of the way it was very fun to shoot especially with my friends we made a lot of memories and in my role of directed I learnt a good deal about delegation and understanding the people you direct. As well I found trouble shooting and solving problems quite fun as it provided a brain tester although I have to be honest it was quite stressful at time.

My favorite scene was the beach as we whiles we were waiting for the timelapse we had ample time to run around and swim. However in terms of production it was the interview scene as there was a lot of things that had to be in order ,all the pieces and add up to create the final shot, there were as well a good number of problems that were fun to shoot.
